ROI Planner
Factory inspection and ROI planner
Start with the inspection. See what the case needs.
Qualify the first inspection, build a three-year cash TCO and ROI estimate, and take a clear brief to your plant team. Use your own figures. An open cost stays open.

Step A · qualify the inspection
What should this inspection decide?
Start with one inspection point: one camera at the station where that defect becomes visible. Add later checks at their own stations.
Complete the first inspection to open the cash case.
Use the words the plant uses to accept or reject the product.
A “Start” path opens planning; it does not confirm model performance. “Fix first” keeps unresolved evidence visible. “Not this” ends with the changes needed before a cash case is worth building.
Map the inspection route.
Give each point its own station, defect and activation date. One point is one camera; a later station checks a different defect.
These are four different checks at four different steps. X-ray of a sealed package is a separate point, and only if compatible X-ray images already exist.
Step B · three-year cash case
Your costs, your supported benefits.
For a Start or Fix first path, compare one-off software with a recurring factory license, see cash TCO, net cash benefit, ROI and year-end payback, and check a downside case. No proposal amount? The factory software line stays open.
Step B · scope the economics
Compare two software models over three years.
Use one currency and actual amounts, not thousands. Commas are accepted. A blank cost is “to scope”; it is not zero. Enter 0 only when the plant expects no amount.
Equipment, setup, integration and initial validation. Do not repeat this spend in the annual rows.
Shared operating costs and released capacity
Shared costs apply to both scenarios unless you override a row. Operating costs include cloud, support, maintenance, retraining, validation and incremental internal labor spending.
Released employee hours are capacity, not cash. They are excluded from benefits, net benefit, ROI and payback.
One recurring license covers unlimited United Vision use cases inside the licensed factory. This amount is booked once at the end of each year. No proposal figure? Leave it blank; the software line is open.
Scope each inspection’s cash assumptions.
Enter annual cash benefit once the inspection is live. The start year uses its activation month; later modeled years use the full run-rate. Enter each one-off software quote once, in the year that inspection starts.
Count a prevented defect in one category only. Count labor only when overtime, contractor cost or a funded backfill is actually removed. Do not monetize risk avoidance, brand damage, ownership or unproven revenue uplift.
Both software columns use the same inspection benefits and activation dates. This keeps the software comparison consistent; it does not establish equivalent supplier performance.
Override shared costs by scenario
Use only where the quoted scope differs. Unchecked rows use the shared amount. A checked blank replacement is to scope; explicit 0 replaces the shared amount with zero. Keep the comparison over the same three years.
Test a downside case
Enter later starts, a smaller share of supported cash benefits, or higher scoped costs. Blank adjustments use your entered case. No software price is assumed or changed.
The tables, PDF and email message use this same selected case. Your original entries stay available.

Your details
Name and email are required to prepare and share the brief. Plant is optional. These details appear in the brief.
Email it to yourself and add demo@unitedvision.ai in Cc. The Share dialog does not set these recipients automatically.
Calculated in this browser. Planner inputs are not uploaded or saved in browser storage. No contact details are required to see results. Name and email are required to prepare and share the brief. Only choosing an app in the Share dialog hands the PDF and message to that app. Review them before you send.

How the three-year model works
Cash TCO is initial spend plus three years of software, operating and additional deployment costs. Net cash benefit is cash benefits less cash TCO. ROI is net cash benefit ÷ cash TCO × 100, only for a complete enough case with positive cash TCO. A negative result is a modeled loss.
Initial spend occurs before Year 1. Each later year’s costs and benefits are booked at that year-end. Payback is the first non-negative year-end balance with no later deficit in the three modeled years. There is no within-year payback. Start-year months live = 13 − activation month; later years use the full annual benefit.
The model is undiscounted and pre-tax. It excludes inflation, financing, terminal value, depreciation and sunk cost. Software comparisons use the same period with scope explicit; they are not total-cost claims.
Production inference runs on a factory-owned edge device. Training runs in a cloud account the customer owns. The customer owns its production images, trained models and customer-specific inspection IP. Ownership is not modeled as a cash saving.
Review with the plant team
How should the plant use this brief?
The brief records the inspection in the plant’s words, its Start, Fix first or Not this path, the evidence gaps and the people who should review it. Start and Fix first can include a three-year cash appendix. Not this excludes economics and explains what must change.
Software amounts compare the same period and explicit scope. The model does not treat released hours, ownership, risk avoidance or unproven revenue as cash benefits. A blank cost stays open, and a negative result remains visible.
